Alumni Relations Office
Dear Colleagues, Students, Parents, and Alumni,
It is with great sadness that we share with you the news of Ms. Cecilia Kam Oi-Ping’s passing on May 28th, 2015, to be with her Lord.
Ms. Kam first joined Yew Chung in October 1982 as an early childhood teacher. Throughout her thirty three years of service in Yew Chung, Ms. Kam passionately took on various leadership roles within early childhood – Coordinator, Vice Principal, and finally Co-Principal – and was instrumental in setting up our Infant & Toddler Learning Programme (ITLP). Even after her retirement, she continued to serve as a consultant for the Early Childhood Section, and assisted the Yew Chung Community College (YCCC) in establishing our ECE teacher training programme.
Apart from her lifelong career in Yew Chung, Ms. Kam also made significant contributions to the wider Hong Kong community, most notably in the area of parent education. She gave many public talks and authored numerous parenting articles, and was a staunch advocate for young children and families. Despite her wealth of knowledge and experience, she still continued to pursue further studies at postgraduate level, setting an example for her peers.
From the very beginning, Ms. Kam’s passion, dedication, and strength were felt by all those who had the privilege of meeting her and working with her. Her positivity, warmth, and good humour were infectious and inspiring, and her rich legacy can be found in the lives of the countless children, families, and colleagues she had mentored and supported, spanning at least two generations.
Our hearts are filled with deep admiration and gratitude for the love and dedication Ms. Kam gave to us, and she will always be remembered for her beautiful and life-giving spirit. Our prayers and condolences go out to Ms. Kam’s son, Augustine Wong, and her family, at this difficult time.
