Homecoming Day 2014 - Alumni Basketball Tournament
The annual Alumni Homecoming Day this year took place on the 16th of August. Over 100 alumni members gathered on this special occasion to participate in this year’s sport-themed homecoming gathering. The event consisted of 3 main parts: the Alumni Basketball Tournament, a networking refreshments session, and the final matches of the Alumni Soccer league. Due to the overwhelming registrations to the matches and event, we started off early at 8am in the Gymnasium, with a drawing session and welcoming briefing for participants of the first item of the day: the Alumni Homecoming Basketball Tournament.
There were 9 matches between 6 teams of alumni. A word of congratulations goes to the team Dragon Ball, the champions of the Basketball Tournament! After the ball games, alumni were treated with a selection of delicious refreshments in the networking refreshments session. A menu of sandwiches, meat, fish balls, fruits, and sports drinks provided by the Yew Chung Central Kitchen was good replenishment. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The networking session also received a large number of applications for the Alumni Membership Card. It was a busy afternoon for both alumni and the Alumni Relations Office.
Following the networking session came the highlight of the day: the final matches of the Alumni Soccer League, the first ever soccer league held in Yew Chung. A total of four Saturdays’ exciting and tense matches determined the champion. Congratulations of the team Fierce Tigers Return for winning the first ever soccer league in our School! They have attained outstanding results throughout the past several weeks, winning 5 out of 6 matches. Medals, trophies, and certificates were presented to every participant in the awards ceremony at the end of the day.
We are grateful to receive positive feedback from our alumni regarding the event. Some described the event as exciting, well-organized, warm, and decent. Some appreciated the free food provided in the networking session, and some were able to feel a sense of “home” by joining us. We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has made this event successful. These people include our chairman and committee members of the alumni association including Daniel Tsoi, Eddie Siu, Wayne Tai, Elmy Lung, Anna Chammat, volunteer helpers of the day Catherine Chen, Cherry Hui, our staff volunteer Angie Lee, Carol Lau, the School Maintenance Division (SMD) for security, technicians, and jeh jehs for the logistics support, the Audio-Visual Department for photography support, and most importantly, you alumni members who made this event special and memorable.
We look forward to organizing more of these events for alumni! If you have any comments or suggestions after your participation in our event, please let us know via email@example.com.
